This book skillfully weaves in the situation in Russia, Ukraine and the US with the tense, heart pounding action expected from the Gray Man. Politics and corruption play a huge role so it's more difficult than ever knowing who can be trusted. Throw in ambition for power at any cost, in particular Suzanne Brewer's, and you have a complex but involving plot.What really made this book stand out were the characters. Several, such as Alex Velesky were flawed and at first timid, but came through at the end. Angela Lacy is another character who grew on you as the story went on. Court showed a tender side along with a new role as peacemaker between a pair of female agents at each others throats. It's great seeing Zoya again. Her vulnerabilities add to the tension, not only regarding the plot but hope she can overcome them.The ending is unexpected. It leaves open new possibilities in the series. It's a 5 star book for any reader of any genre, but especially the action/intrigue/thriller types. Once again the Gray Man is on the move from one country to the next, all in the name of honor and doing the right thing. Even when he is sometimes betrayed, which happens alot, he still forges ahead. It is hard to say this is the best ever because they are all 5 star books. But this book is really good and well worth your time. If you have never read a Gray Man novel but you dig the genre? Imagine Mack Bolan and Mitch Rapp and Jason Bourne. Court Gentry is kind of like those dudes. Highly recommend. Won't waste your time writing what it's about. You can find out easily enough. I couldn’t put this book down since I opened it even if I wanted to which I didn’t. The weaving of fast action, fight scenes, car chases, explosions, swinging from trees, and political intrigue in planes, trains, and automobiles…masterful. The suspense so thick you could choke on it…and then is there really a light at the end of the tunnel for our assassin oddly with a white knight syndrome? I was on that train and in the hangar with Court and Zoya ducking bullets and taking out the bad guys. Now I have to wait for the next Gray Man adventure.
